Time - Haute Savoie:
In Haute
Savoie, La Clusaz is one of the leading ski resorts in the Aravis
Massif and the home of former world class skiers, Guy Perillat and Edgar
Grospiron. The ski resort in the northern alps is situated at a major
communication crossroads in Europe. In winter it has facilities for skiing
and winter sports of all kinds. Stylish and authentic, for both winter
sports and as a summer resort. In the immediate area to the chalet is
one of the oldest mountain resorts in France.
The resort
first opened its doors to visitors at the turn of the last
century and today is one of the most highly regarded of the hundred
winter sports resorts in France. The right combination of tradition and
modernity, La Clusaz has found the perfect balance.
It is suitable
for skiers of all levels and the landscapes and panoramas
from between the pine trees are unforgetable.
Skiing
Experts:
The best terrain for experts is la Balme or L'Aiguille where a number
of
fairly challenging runs can be found.

Intermediates:
La Clusaz enables the intermediate skier to travel long distances on
wide groomed runs between the 5 massifs.
Skiing
Beginners:
At the top of Beauregard, La Croix Fry-Manigod- Merdassier are the
best slopes for beginners/novices/ intermediates.
La Clusaz
is approx' 18 minutes drive from the chalet and La Croix Fry-
Manigod-Merdassier is approx' 8 minutes drive, there is a ski bus that
stops at the door of the chalet linking La Croix Fry and La Clusaz. You
can also ski, fairly quickly, from Croix Fry to La Clusaz.
Summer
Time - Lake Annecy:
Annecy is
a splendid town full of art treasures as well as the perfect
city for sports and leisure activities. World famous Annecy is certainly
worth a trip. You can walk around the lake, lose yourself in the
streets of the old town, visit the Chateau museum and that's just for
a start.
The gorgeous
lake side town of Annecy is only a 20 minute drive from
the chalet. In the summer the temperature of the lake can be more
than 20°C(70°F). There are a number of beaches; the nearest are
at
Menthon (10Km). The temperature during the summer months is on
average between 25 - 35°C.
At the lake
you can enjoy any of the following:
- Water sports - Diving - Sunbathing - Boat hire - Swimming
- Canoeing - Sailing - Hiking - Windsurfing - River Surfing
- Waterskiing - Mountain Biking - Paragliding - Climbing - Tennis
A Visit to
Menthon Saint Bernard is a must do for everyone, where
there is a comfortable lawn on the lake front. A visit to the chateaux
at Menthon and Montrottier, the Fier Gorge and the bell museum in
Sevrier is also a must.
Golf:
A 5 Hole
course near Chapelle aux Confins, with driving ranges, chipping
areas, bunkers and a putting green.
Paragliding
- Aeroski:
The first
paragliding school in La Clusaz opened in 1986. Approved by
the FFVL (French free flight Federation), the school is open all year
round, with tuition from qualified instructors. Alternatively paragliding
is available at Annecy in the summer.
Tobogganing:
A fun ride
suitable for absolutely everyone, located in La Clusaz, there
are two runs, each one 800m (875 Yards).

Places of interest:
- Albertville
- Centre of the '92 Winter Olympics
- Plateau
des Glieres, this is where the Resistance was based during the
war - Plateau de Beauregard (1500 - 1750m) in winter a Ski de Fond
region.
- Chamonix,
about an hours drive via motorway. Site of the
"Mer de Glace" with its funcular railway and cable car lifts
onto the
glacier and the summer luge. Mont Blanc and cable car up to the
Aguie de Midi is excellent unless you suffer from vertigo. In winter the
usual ski activities are readily available. Geneva and Lac Leman, also
about an hours drive from the chalet.
- There are
interesting chateaux to be found at Annecy, Menthon
Thorens and Montrottier.
- Gorges
